Proton Business is the reference choice when privacy is a hard requirement rather than a preference. Every message can be end-to-end encrypted — even between Proton users without any setup — and the entire stack (mail, calendar, drive) runs on servers in Switzerland under Swiss data-protection law. For legal, medical, NGO and journalism audiences, that combination of jurisdiction + E2EE is unique among mainstream providers. Strengths. Security posture: zero-knowledge architecture means Proton itself cannot read your mail or files. No ads, no data resale — the business model is subscription-only, which keeps incentives aligned. Client apps (iOS/Android/desktop/web) are polished and consistent; mobile push works reliably where it matters. Swiss jurisdiction is a real differentiator in procurement for EU-adjacent orgs sensitive to US CLOUD Act reach. Weaknesses. Ecosystem: no office suite, limited third-party integrations, and the admin console lags Google/MS for large-scale provisioning (bulk import/export of users is clunky). Interop with non-Proton recipients requires sharing a secure link or falling back to standard encryption — expect friction in mixed environments. Price per GB of shared Drive storage is competitive only at Standard tier and above. Pricing. Current entry pricing, free tier and storage are shown in the verified specifications panel above — read from the vendor’s own pricing page, never copied between languages. Verdict for v1: choose Proton when the buyer’s checklist includes “E2EE by default” or “no US jurisdiction.” It is not the cheapest option and its admin tooling assumes a smaller org — but for privacy-critical workloads it has no real competitor at this price point.
