Overview

Fastmail is a premium hosted email service known for speed and polish — IMAP-first with first-class native apps on macOS/Windows/iOS/Android, plus calendar and contacts. Strengths. Excellent raw performance (IMAP IDLE is snappy); clean web + desktop clients; data residency choice (AU/EU/US); strong API and automation story for power users. Weaknesses. No E2EE by default (TLS in transit only, optional PGP); per-mailbox pricing with storage tiers means heavy attachers pay more; no Microsoft 365-style admin console at scale. Pricing. Current entry pricing, free tier and storage are shown in the verified specifications panel above — read from the vendor’s own pricing page, never copied between languages. Verdict v1: the best ‘it just works’ email for technical individuals and small teams who value speed over ecosystem lock-in.
